Introduction to Innovation Policy for Developing Countries

This course was developed jointly with the World Bank Institute. The course is designed for policymakers, government officials and innovation policy practitioners who would like to better understand innovation, its potential impact and how to implement policies that can encourage innovation.

 

 
The aim of this course is to provide a basic introduction to innovation and innovation policy making. The course will discuss the concept of innovation policy, walk through pragmatic innovation strategies derived from principles and experiences, and discuss the government’s basic roles in innovation policy making.
 
The course content provided here will give you a concrete understanding of innovation and the major components of innovation policy . The course is organized into five modules that explore different aspects of innovation and innovation policy making. Each module includes cases that demonstrate how the particular content of interest is/was put into practice.
 
A facilitated version of this ecourse is planned for delivery later this year with WBI’s einstitute platform with interactive forums, exercises, quizzes and an additional module designed to take you through the development of a country action plan. Information on the date of the facilitated ecourse will be provided once it is set.
